  1. 1. I’ve always wanted to try a fro-hawk, but was never sure about how it would look on my big head, lol. I’ll get there one day!

    2. Looking forward to trying and mastering a moisturizing routine! I’ve learned that my hair needs moisture and I’ll need much of with my protective styling.

    3. No growth aids- don’t feel that they have a major impact for me personally, but I’m sure they work well for others! I just take my multivitamin daily, exercise, drink water and watch what I eat.

  2. Hello Ladies:
    1. I want to try a high bun; even when my hair was relaxed and long I never wore a high bun… something about the back of my neck?!? IDK… Can’t wait to do – by summer mos def!
    2. I have got to find the END OF OF DCs. During Black Friday I bought quite a few so I guess its trial and error time! LOL
    3. No growth aids… Using JBCO and CO, does that count?
    BTW loving this challenge :)

    • Lol!! What’s wrong with the back of your neck @facebook-1434780377:disqus ? You should totally try the high bun, if at least once! PJism is in the building, lol!! Hope you find the end of the stash and hahaha…well I guess using the CO/JBCO is a yes and no answer ;)

      Thanks for checking in!!

  3. What hairstyle have you dreamed of doing, but never tried? – I would like to try a cute up-do. My hair is only about 5-5.5 inches long, so I have not even bothered about trying.
What’s one thing you look forward to trying during this Winter TBCH segment? (share what goal/style/technique etc you look forward to utilizing this segment of the challlenge)- I am looking forward to trying to do more up-do’s. My goal is to have healthier growing hair. I would like to reach collar bone length by my birthday in May.
Do you take growth aids?-I was taking Hairfinity, but that got to be too expensive for me right now, so I am just taking prenatal vitamins and biotin pills.

    • Oooh..you must definitely post a photo when you meet that goal of wearing an updo. I’d love to see it!! :)

Also, how did you like the Hairfinity other than the cost of it @twitter-780804440:disqus ?

  4. 1. I’ve always wanted to try a wash and go but every time i try i end up completely failing

2.i look forward to retaining as much moisture as possible by deep treatments and GHE ing every night

    3. No growth aids my mom wont let me take any, she says they dont work like everyone thinks it should LOL

    • Awwh,..wash and goes are hard.. They are pretty hit and miss for me as well. Keep deep treating, you’ll see the results in the end. Lol..your mom might have a point.. I don’t take growth aids..too much hassle trying to remember to take the pills *shrugs shoulders*

      Thanks for checking in!

  5. 1. I always wanted to try the curl former rollers so I bought some from amazon. Straighten my hair with just rollers.

    2. I am looking forward to getting a routine for deep conditioning I have problems with dryness after three days.

    3. I don’t use growth aids I just try to eat right and exercises and hope that will help with keeping me healthy from head to toe.

    • Ohh..so you straightened with the curlformers huh…have any photos of that?? And yes! Dryness on our natural hair is a big hassle, but it can be resolved. I found moisturizing more often in the winter does help a ton too. I have a few posts on deep conditioners here on the blog.

Eating healthy is so much more beneficial than just using something that won’t last long..good job!

      Thanks for checking in!

  6. 1. I’ve always wanted to put my hair up in a high bun but its still not long enough for that.
    2. Over the course of this segment i hope to see more length retention and moisture return to my hair.
    3. No i am not taking any aids

  7. 1. I have not tried a wash and go, but id like to give it a try when it gets warmer out.
    2. during the winter challenge , i plan to keep my hair in protective and low maintenance updos for length retention. i am moisturizing with water daily, using a water based cream leave in, and sealing with shea butter. i have also been massaging my scalp more often with castor oil.
    3. ive been drinking water more and taking my daily vitamins, including biotin.

    • The infamous wash and go!! Do share with us when you try it. Good job for keeping at the moisturizing, massaging and taking better care overall! ;) How are you liking the biotin? I’ve never tried it.

      Thanks for checking in!

  8. What hairstyle have you dreamed of doing, but never tried? havana twists
What’s one thing you look forward to trying during this Winter TBCH segment? (share what goal/style/technique etc you look forward to utilizing this segment of the challlenge) More growth I’d like to get my hair down to shoulder blade level
Do you take growth aids? I take biotin whenever I can remember to take it.

    • HAVANA TWISTS!! YES @disqus_TuswBGvHuz:disqus !! I am so with you on that. I love them, have you seen my DIY post on doing them here on the blog? The growth will surely come, keep on giving your hair good care. And lol, I never remember to take any form of pills/medicine which is why I totally don’t use any aids (I just can’t ever remember about them!)

      Thanks for checking in!

  9. 1) i want to do a bun, never tried it when my hair was permed.

    2) My goal is to do more protective styles, find the right products to do l.o.c, and learn my hair pattern.

    3) I use wild grow oil but I’m thinking bout getting hair, nails, and skin vitamins

    • Get your bun on!! Definitely try it out as a natural. Protective styling is great, just remember to not over do it..as well, I have a post on Hair types and patterns, check it out and see if that helps. You can find that post along with tons more helpful ones on the Natural 101 page.

Has the Wild growth oil done anything for you?

      Thanks for checking in!

      • It makes my hair soft and easy to work with plus it brings out curls when i put it when i have just washed my hair. I like it but I’m going to see how it works now since i don’t have braids

  10. 1. I’ve always wanted to try a rod set that last at least 3 days.
    2. Growing my hair with less heat but with cute natural styles. My husband doesn’t like the natural look at all!

    • Rod sets are so pretty, I’m thinking the products you use will also help with the longevity of the style. So make sure to use something that combats frizz and is not one to add extra product buildup on your scalp and hair. Ohhh dear, he doesn’t?? He will just have to learn to love you and your hair despite it being natural. I hope it’s not that he’s been conditioned into thinking natural is not beautiful, because if that’s the case, you have some explaining and teaching to do. Show him that regardless your hair is fabulous, and besides the hair, you are still the same woman he married!!

      Thanks for checking in!

  11. What hairstyle have you dreamed of doing, but never tried?
I have always wanted to try micro braids as a protective style but really don’t think I can sit still for that long to have them installed. Currently rocking a bun as my protective style this week. It’s easy to maintain.
What’s one thing you look forward to trying during this Winter TBCH segment? (share what goal/style/technique etc you look forward to utilizing this segment of the challlenge)
I look forward to continuing deep conditioning and keeping my hair looking and feeling moisturized.
    Do you take growth aids
No, I do not take growth aids as I currently take plenty of vits and drink lots of water.

    • Lol, yep..sitting to get them put in is sooooooooo annoying! I think I did that twice and I just couldn’t put myself through it again. Buns are really easy and they do the job. Nice pic of the bun btw @facebook-1511890538:disqus .

      Thanks for checking in!

  12. What hairstyle have you dreamed of doing, but never tried? Havana Twists

What’s one thing you look forward to trying during this Winter TBCH segment? (share what goal/style/technique etc you look forward to utilizing this segment of the challlenge)

Flat twists with a a french roll. A Bun or a puff

Do you take growth aids? not so far

    • I love Havana Twists, you should definitely try them! I never did them either, but that is one of my dream styles to do. Oohh, french rolled flat twists sound fun, and the puff and bun are super easy and flexible hairstyles. Definitely worth trying @facebook-755016251:disqus !

      Thanks for checking in!

  13. 1. There really isn’t many hairstyles I haven’t tried, maybe Nubian twist would be one that I like.
    2. This winter is all about protective styles, finger detangling and eventually reaching my goal of APL. Currently, I am 3 years natural and halfway to reaching my goal of 6 years, when I combed out my love and had that length.
    3. Growth Aids, I was taking Natures Bounty, Hair..Skin..and Nails with 5000 mg of biotin. I just finished 250 pills brought back in Sept. I eat right, exercise, drink plenty of water. I also had some Vivisical left , I am finishing those up was a 3 month supply.I take a Multi – vitamin and flaxseeds as well.

    • Man…lady of many styles!! ;) You should post some photos so we can see some styles you’ve worn. So you had locs before? and are now a loosed-haired natural? Nice, how was the experience? And as far as the Natures Bounty, have you noticed anything as a result?

      Thanks for checking in!

  14. Hello ladies!!!!!! This is going to be interesting!! I recently bc’d (3months ago) and my hair is starting to grow out and I have no idea what to do with it–style wise. It is now 2 inches all over–ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!
I am currently taking prenatal vitamins, biotin and I do the GHE once a week with Bee Mine growth serum…..GREAT results so far!!!!!!

    • YAY!! Congrats on your recent chop @lovnmenaturally:disqus !! At that length I was rocking palm rolls, curly coil outs and just any easy breezy styles..see my fotki here for some ideas (http://fotki.com/afroqueenshae and be sure to go through my beginning natural journey to see some styles).

Very nice, so the GHE method is working good for you. Do you think biotin and the prenatal vitamins clash? Or they work well together?

      Thanks for checking in!!

  15. 1. Some of the really intricate buns I’ve always wanted to do.

    2. I was really excited about doing crochet braids especially after seeing all of the youtube videos (I installed them yesterday). I also just started doing the LOC method for moisturizing.

    3. I don’t take any growth aids

  16. What hairstyle have you dreamed of doing, but never tried? really long senegalese twists; I have hair ADD lol so they wouldn’t stay in long enough to justify the time & patience it takes to put them in, let alone take them out… But they look great!! *sigh…*
What’s one thing you look forward to trying during this Winter TBCH segment? (share what goal/style/technique etc you look forward to utilizing this segment of the challlenge) – the perfect braid out/twist out (suited for my taste)
Do you take growth aids? Not consistently… I take Biotin when & if I remember to…

    • @google-4fe718b7b764bda75a6c1dc141a30926:disqus !! Lol, you can put your own hair into senegalese at this point, but when you do try those with the really long ones, post a photo so we can see it, and lololol!! Hair ADD..I know just what you mean! I definitely put in kinky twists once and then about 2 or so hours later took them all out..smh.

Lol, suited for your taste?! This twistout must be super duper flawless then, because I have seen your past twist outs and they were perfect! How are you liking biotin? Seen any results due to using it?

      Thanks for checking in!

  17. 1. What hairstyle have you dreamed of doing, but never tried? Box braids

    2. What’s one thing you look forward to trying during this Winter TBCH
segment? (share what goal/style/technique etc you look forward to
utilizing this segment of the challlenge) Finger detangling

    3. Do you take growth aids? No

    • Box braids..the old faithfuls! Try them one day, just avoid tight edges and tension. Finger detangling..I have a posting on it, check it out :) I’ll try to curate a post or make the natural 101 page better informed with the information, so check that page out @facebook-686697241:disqus .

      Thanks for checking in!

  18. The hairstyle I would love to try are the flat twist but I have no clue how to braid or the dexterity or nimbleness of my phalanges to do so… oh well. My goals are to grow my edges and the scalp massages (trying to make 15min at one sitting) I usually break it up in 5min intervals, drink more water —note to self “DRINK MORE WATER!!!”. My growth aids are Puritan’s Pride Healthy Hair Vitamin — it has everything amino acids, biotin, msm, silica, and Maxidene also to promote healthy hair.

  19. What hairstyle have you dreamed of doing, but never tried- straw sets
What’s one thing you look forward to trying during this Winter TBCH segment? (share what goal/style/technique etc you look forward to utilizing this segment of the challlenge)- i look forward to stretching my hair more.
Do you take growth aids?- i just started taking future biotics’ hair skin and nails.

  20. 1) I really want the long senegalese twist…I think they are so beautiful and i really need a break from styling my hair(not like I know tons of styles anyway)

    2) I’m looking forward to learning more styles and getting tips on how to retain length.

3)No growth aids but I have thought about trying some…my hair is growing okay but sometimes you see others hair and want it longer..but I’m content w/ it and I know if I take better care it will be healthy and grow!

  21. 1. A hairstyle that I’ve always dreamed of doing but never tried was a flat twist updo. Those elaborate styles that look too difficult to even try. I do my own hair and haven’t perfected my flat twisting. I tend to go for quick styles that last long.
    2. I looking forward to staying on task in this challenge. I’m usually the last person on my list, so I tend to not get around to myself most of the tim.
    3. No, I don’t use growth aids. I just hope what I do is enough for my hair to grow nicely on its own.

  22. 1. I always wanted to do two strand twists with just my hair..but everytime my hair gets long enough i cut it off..lol
    2. I need to remember moisture!! And tying my hair up at night with my satin bonnet …
    3. no growth aids..justmy regular alive multivitimins..maybe i should try some….

    Good luck everyone!

  23. 1. I would like to try bantu knot out, I’d have to do it while i’m on leave, pretty sure the military will look at me like ummmm wth…….. lol
    2. looking forward to trying to stick to a regimen. I’m getting my first trim of the year, I usually go every 8-10 weeks but i’m going to try to go just twice a year or just as needed.
    3. Nope no growth aids, i take pre-natal vitamins not for my hair though…….

  24. 1. Mini twist updos. My mini twists are never full enough to do updos with them.

    2. Im looking forward to finalizing the products that I think work for me and sticking to them. No more product junkie!!

    3. I take biotin on and off.

  25. I’ve always wanted to just get up, fluff my curls, and keep going. I like to keep it simple.

I hope to perfect my 2 strand twist or 3 strand twist with great definition during this challenge.

I do not take hair growth aids but if you know of some please share the info :)

  26. 1 I’ve always wanted to wear twists on my own hair. Still not long enough for the look I’m going for… But it’s getting there!

2 what I look forward to is full, healthy hair… And of course the length. Arm pit length is the goal.

3 I use Andrew Lessmans healthy hair nails and skin supplements along with a multiple vitamin… And I’m working on my water intake. I’ve also been doing yoga and thinking positive, stress can be toxic and cause shedding and thinning

  27. #1. I also have wanted to try a frohawk but I am not sure it will look right on me, or if I know how to do it correctly.
#2 I look forward to learning how to do more protective styling. Winter is hard on my hair and skin I am always so dry, so I want to do more protective styling to keep my hair moisturized.
#3 I have never taken any growth aids.

  28. 1. Flat twist or bantu.
    2. healthy, moist, hair with lenght.
    3. Internal/external WATER, coconut oil and multi-vits.

  29. 1. Because twists & mini-twists allow me to do a lot with my hair, I haven’t found anything I really want to do…yet
    2. I look forward to my hair growing out to a more even length. I cut 2″ off in May because I didn’t know how to take care of my ends. Also my edges broke off and are growing back well. I have no intention of cutting my hair again so it will just have to grow out and when it reaches a certain length I will go to a salon and have it evened out…maybe ;-)
    3. From Jan. 2000-Dec. 2006 I was on 13 different pills while on peritoneal dialysis…After my transplant in ’06 they shrunk down considerably so if I don’t have to I don’t take any extra pills, y’knowwhatimean. I changed my diet to all-natural (except for Mom’s baking ^_^) & I get a work out in at least 3x’s a week. But I gotta tellya, my hair really like the castor oil! My hair just feels so good!

  30. i want to try more flat twist styles.
im looking forward to adding more scalp massages into my routine
no suppplemts but i did try biotin for a while. it helped in growth, more for my nails than hair.

  31. 1. I’ve wanted to try a frohawk but I think it will not look as good on me as it does on others. I have a funny shaped head I think..lol. Maybe one day soon I will muster up enough courage to give it try.
    2. I’m looking forward to trying and experimenting with a lot more moisturizing products for my awfully dry hair. I’ve noticed that even since week one my hair is much more manageable since it is better taken care, conditioned, and moisturized on a regular basis. My goal is to keep up this regimen. My hair is screaming THANK YOU!!! LOL
    3. I do not take growth aids. Mainly because I don’t know what to take and how much. My hair is slow growing and I’m sure the right growth aids would be beneficial to my hair.

  32. What hairstyle have you dreamed of doing, but never tried?
    >>I’d have to say mini-twists.

What’s one thing you look forward to trying during this Winter TBCH segment?
    >>I think besides all the techniques I’ve learned from the last challenge, I’m looking fwd to using a tailored version of the LOC method. And keeping my hair protected, low mani, etc.

    Do you take growth aids?
    >>Yes.

  33. 1. I would say that there hasn’t been a style I haven’t tried, but I want to start incorporating color in my box braids.
    2. I’m looking forward to mastering my braiding skills to do some more fly hair styles.
    3. No growth aids, just semi-healthy eating and lots of water drinking.

  34. 1. I’ve actually been wanting to dye most of my hair in auburn. My hair is black.

    2. I will be doing more braided-up pompadours
    3.Nope.

  35. 1. I have never but want to get a sew-in. I don’t want to leave hair out but I don’t want it to look like a wig. I think though in July I’m going to go for it!

    2. I’m am looking forward to another year (my 11th year of being natural) of expiermenting with my hair and just continuing a healthy routine and browning more into myself.

    3. As far as growth aids I take biotin but that has been something I have done for years.

  36. I have always wanted to rock a HUGE afro. Thanks to this challenge and the previous one, I am well on my way towards one.
I am looking forward to mastering a moisture regime as well as creative protective styles.
I am not taking any growth supplements, just trying to eat healthy and drink lots of water.

  37. 1. I would love to try the bantu knot out and twist up dos. My hair keep breaking off (especially in back) and I have to cut it. I’m praying this challenge will help keep length in the back and I can do more things with my hair.
    2. I’m looking forward to having healthy hair and trying more styles and techniques that I read during this challenge.
    3. I do not take spefic growth aids for hair but I do take several supplements that have vitimins and oils that are good for your hair.

  38. 1. I’ve always wanted a big o’l fro, thats perfeclty coifed and soft, never tried it because I’ve been relaxing since I was 12! So I’ve never seen my hair like that.

2.I’m seriously debating doing the big chop, Last time I had a relaxer was August 2012, It;s Jan 2013 and I’m still debating, Or maybe just transition for the rest of my life, who knows…

3.Not takeing any growth aids, letting it do its natural thug thizzle. I’m currently wearing braids, got them done Jan 2nd and will wear it until March perhaps? Any thoughts on how long to keep my braids in?

    • Based on the type of braids i say three months at the most but also u should look at how fast ur hair grows while in the braids. I had micros done in September and took them out last month. If u don’t want to do the bc i say have little bit of the perm cut out as u have new growth come in

    • I’m going to encourage your BC but only if you’re ready! I think it’s easier to start working with your hair so as it changes you’re there for all of the changes of one texture. For me it was difficult dealing with two textures, so after about 9 months of transitioning I cut off the relaxed part. But good luck sis and keep us posted!

  39. I’ve just always wanted hair all the way down my back.

Trying to get my regimen down. I’ve learned that I need alot more product that I’m used to.
I do take vitamins to keep from catching another cold but I wouldn’t necessarily consider it a “growth aid”

  40. What hairstyle have you dreamed of doing, but never tried? Bantu knot out. It turns out really pretty on the tutorials ive seen but i am waiting for my hair to get a little longer!
What’s one thing you look forward to trying during this Winter TBCH segment? (share what goal/style/technique etc you look forward to utilizing this segment of the challlenge) Honestly I am trying to just do more protective styling with my own hair and not relying on weaves.
Do you take growth aids? Yes, prenatal vitamins.

  41. 1. I just want beautiful, healthy curls that hang down past my shoulders
    2. Being able to perfect an excellent deep conditioner treatment and maybe even attempting crochet braids as a protective hairstyle
    3. No grown aids!! Just good ol fashion eating right, drinking water, exercising and taking multi-vitamins :-)

  42. 1. To get a perfect bantu knot out
    2. Doing more protective styling
    3. Drinking more water, exercise, an taking vitamins.

  43. 1. I would like to try some type of up-do, but I’m not that talented!!
    2. I’m looking forward to learning to moisturize my hair and stretching it!!
    3. Not at the moment but I was considering taking Hairfinity because it has helped before!

  44. 1. I have always wanted to try the Roll-Tuck-& Pin. I have been reluctant because I have really thick hair and no patience :) when it comes to styling.

    2. I am looking forward to journaling about my natural hair journey. I have been natural 15 years and use to keep up with this but stopped a long time ago.

    3. I only take multi- vitamins and B12 ( I work 3rd shift). I have considered taking biotin but I have dry senstitive skin and I am prone to breakouts.

  45. 1. Can’t think of any hairstyle presently that I would love to try as yet.

    2. We don’t have winter here but it is very cold. I have looking forward to mastering the technique of moisturizing and protective styling.

    3. I do take Boitin but I don’t take it for my hair generally. It’s a hair, skin and nail vitamin and any help with those three I’ll take :)

  46. What hairstyle have you dreamed of doing but never tried? A nice updo.
What’s one thing you look forward to trying during this Winter TBCH segment? (share what goal/style/technique etc you look forward to utilizing this segment of the challenge) Protective styles.

    3.no

  48. 1. I would love to get my hair long enough to get into a ponytail.
    2. I want to learn more about my hair. I have extremely dry hair that itch “A LOT”, and fall out frequently. I also, want to learn better hair styles because I am looking like a fool with what I’m working with right now.
    3. I do not use any hair growth aids……tell me what I can use.

  49. 1. To finally put a color rinse in my hair…been thinking about doing it for a while now.
    2. Really getting strict on regular deep conditioning.
    3. Nope! I just drink lots of water, eat plenty of fresh produce and exercise

  50. 1. I can’t wait to try the pompadour once I achieve enough length.
    2. I’m anxious to try Entwine Couture’s product line
    3. I am not taking any growth aids but I do take my usual prenatal vitamin.

  51. 1. I’ve wanted to try the fro-hawk, too, but my daughter says that I’m too old. :)

    2. I’d like to try different protective styles.

    3. No, I don’t take growth aids…I DO drink water and TRY to eat better.

  52. I really want to try a bantu knot out. It looks awesome on everyone ive seen it with but there seems to be a lot of trial and error with it. Im really looking forward to seeing if i can get closer to my goalof retaining length and relieving my dry scalp. I installed some twists about 2 days ago and they really help my scalp to breathe. I am not taking growth supplements but I have been on a “get healthy” challenge which includes eating better, drinking more water and (trying to remember) taking vitamins.

  53. 1. I’ve always dreamed of trying a bentonite clay treatment, I love the definition I’ve seen on youtube.

    2. I look forward to more protective styling this winter, I wasn’t a fan before, but after cutting my hair again I want to keep it as healthy and moisturized as possible.

    3. I don’t take growth aids, but I did start a vitamin if that counts. :)

  54. 1. As for natural styles, there are a bunch of pics etc. that I have saved to my computer, but have never tried. Can’t think of a specific one
    2. I’ve been getting tired of combing my natural hair and so tempted to give up and go back to relaxer (no!) so I just plan to give myself and my hair a break with braids
    3. Nope

  55. 1. My dream hair style is a super super full twist out!
    2. Doing more protective styling specifically with my own hair. And hopefully perfecting my flat twist and corn row
    3. I am taking biotin if that counts as a growth aid.

  56. 1. I wanted to try yarn wraps or loc extensions
    2. I look forward to moisturizing and deep conditioning my hair more often
    3. Im going to start taking growth aids next month but for right now Im doing Insanity and eating healthy foods to help keep my hair healthy :)

  57. 1. Bantu knots or a fro hawk
    2. I’m looking forward to being able to master keeping in moisture, and getting on a regular hair schedule so that the process is less stressful on both of us!
