Summer is just around the corner and I couldn’t be more ready to dive in to the warmth and fun of it all. This summer will be a busy one for me as I dive into some intensive courses for Web Dev, but on the days I can get away, I look forward to going swimming.
Typically, packing for a good getaway trip is just short of chaotic (all the things must go!). This year, I would like to keep it simple. Easy, breezy and carefree packing is my goal.
Lucky for me, I was able to snag some items from Target that really will help me accomplish this. Where exactly we’ll be heading we’re not so certain yet, but thus far I’ve packed items I know can take me from brunch to beach with no problems.
I picked up this awesome Merona Tote bag, a catch-all perfect for quick on-the-go trips to anywhere. This tote will be my weekend getaway bag in an effort to, again, keep things light and carefree. I also got a Merona straw hat with black bow trim and I love it! It’s large and floppy and perfect for hiding the sunrays on those super hot days. I love a good green anything (cup, skirt, shirt, book, just love it!), so I snagged this gorgeous olive green pleated flowy skirt by and I’m obsessed! It’s so versatile. I can wear the skirt with this denim Merona top, and also with this yellow chiffon top I’ve had for ages.
I also got this black off-the-shoulder beach dress, which doubles as a swimsuit cover up, so I’d be able to go from chic to swim with no problems. Of course, I will also need skincare essentials, and I am planning on packing the typical stuff: lip balms, lip glosses, lotions, hand sanitizers, soaps, and moisturizers like this Neutrogena Oil Free SPF moisturizer I picked up. I may or may not decide to wear makeup (and I know you guys know I’m not a huge makeup fan), but I ventured to get this Laneige BB Cushion with SPF 50, which seems like an awesome way to touch up for my picture-perfect moments.
Here are a few of my own packing tips:
Try to pack at least a few days before your trip date
Pack everything you think you may need (if you told yourself you’d only take one bag, pack everything you think you’ll need into this bag)
Revisit the packed bag either the day before the trip or day of the trip, eliminate any items you really think you’ll no longer need, or that doesn’t need to make it to the trip
Invest in good travel bags and those small TSA approved travel sized bottles
Make sure you pack enough undergarments, and also essentials (sanitary napkins, etc just in-case)
Take a travel pillow and a good travel blanket! If you’re anything like me, a good nap is only made better with a blanket and soft pillow
Have loose change at the ready for snacks, also be sure to pack snacks and handy food items for your trip. Especially if your diet is very particular, ensure you have things ready and available that you could eat.
If you’re going to take hats and items that could risk getting crushed in transit, try stuffing them with other soft items like your socks and underwear to help them retain their shape.
Have your travel documents ready at all times!! Most of my trips were on airplane or on Amtrak and I can assure you, you’ll be needing to present your documents often as part of the routine check ups, so be sure to keep them on you and in a safe place.
Ok loves, that wraps up my top few tips for travel packing and just tips to get by when out and about.
Share with me, how do you pack for your weekend getaways or for a long trip?
Well, I’ll keep you all posted on where I decide to venture to for my quick getaway. Until then, do share with me your favorite travel destinations and any awesome tips you have for making them fun.
