plaits for growth

Introducing the tartelette 2 in bloom palette – featuring 12 brand new, never-before-seen shades.

Okay, maybe it doesn’t grow your hair, but it sure does help with length retention. Using plaits as helped me retain a lot of length during the winter months. So they are my go to when I “can’t be bothered” with my hair.

Plaits are no stranger to most of us. If you have ever worn cornrows or had extension box braids, you know what a plait looks like. They can be done in micro sizes, done in medium or in larger sizes called Goddess braids.

I usually wear mine in small to medium sized plaits, and let them stay for about a month or two. I have a youtube video showing how I wash and maintain while my hair is in the plaits.

Here are a few pics of my hair whilst in plaits:

This is by far my most favorite protective style. It lasts so long! And I style them in many ways once they are in. I treat them as though they were extensions/micros and I can curl, puff, pin them as I please. Good thing is they don’t stress my edges because I don’t do them super tight at the roots, I also leave about 1/2 inch un-plaited so when I co-wash it curls up really nicely and gives me more body. Be sure to watch the video. What’s your favorite protective style? I want to know…

  1. Well since New York has finally gotten hot, sticky and everyone is sweating I washed my hair, went out and got cornrows. Nothing fancy just straight to the back like Ciara or Alicia Keyes. Of course unlike those two sisters I had extensions added to my own medium length natural hair to bring the length just below my shoulders. Nothing too long for me since I don’t like long hair in hot, sticky summer weather.
I am Loving the Heat for Summer since NYC’s Spring was cold, wet and rainy but I got tired of picking my hair out every day. This gives me a chance to rest my hair from constant combing. Also since I have two events coming up that I must attend I know that my hair will be neat and together for the next 3 three weeks.
I have been entertaining coloring my hair reddish brown for the last two months but I nevr go around to doing so. Eventually I will get rid of this gray hair. Will keep you posted. DeBorah
