Growing up, I was always body conscious. That sentiment may surprise a lot of people, simply because they see me as this tall, slim, young lady with a model’s body. Except growing up being tall and slim was absolutely the most annoying thing, when everyone else around is shorter and doesn’t look “like a stick”. For years, I had this thing where I hated to really see my body. I didn’t mind hiding behind loads of layers, but when it came to swimming I always wanted to wear something that wouldn’t weigh me down in the water. I’m a true water baby. I’ve always been one—I’ve loved swimming since the very moment I was taught to do it.
Heading to the pool or the beach as a kid wasn’t a big deal—heck I’d grab my one-piece and jump right in. As I got older, the body-conscious thoughts kicked in, and suddenly I didn’t feel that wonderful wearing swimsuits at all. Part of that can truly ruin the way you continue to view yourself if the thoughts fester long enough. I’m so happy Target Style has created a new campaign geared around allowing women to stand proud and be confident in their own skin!
No more FOMO!! I’ve never been too keen on a bikini. I’m a huge fan of one-pieces, but they must absolutely look good! Target has such a stellar selection—like, seriously! I got myself this beyond awesome leopard-print swimsuit (if you know me, you know I LOVE leopard print—so I snagged this without batting an eyelash) and the little cutouts on the sides are too cute. It was important to me that whatever I wear when swim season comes around shortly this year, I’ll feel beautiful and confident, and that it is something I love!
I like to wear my suits with either swim skirts or swim trunks (call me a modest swimmer). I also got myself this beautiful black-and-white print swimsuit with neon/lime green highlights (another love, because green is my fave color!). I really didn’t think this one would be as stunning as it turned out to be, and it’s really comfortable as well.
Lastly, I did get a bandeau-style top to pair up with a swim skirt. I really love the funky style of this top. My only downfall was, even though I followed the size chart and got the recommended size per my chest measurement, what I have here is a bit too big for me. (I’m hoping to get my correct size because I really love the color combo on this piece.) I also got this white mesh cover-up that’s great for strolling the beach until I’m ready to actually swim.
Have you tried any of Target’s latest swimsuits?
